The Eyes of Texas

 "Texas Art and Texas Light"
American Arts Quarterly, Volume 27, number 3.

Dennis Blagg’s panoramic landscapes, like his Passover (1997), take one out further west, to the eternal vast country that evokes the Biblical deserts of the Old Testament. Patrick Gabriel captures every mood and aspect of the Texas light, from the flat, sun-baked afternoon to the pinkish thundercloud over the high-tension power lines, to the soft evening over the prairie.

FWADA Fall Gallery Night

This week we interview Paula Kornye Tillman, president of the Fort Worth Art Dealer’s Association (FWADA), about the upcoming Fall Gallery Night. It’s a great day (and night) for the community of Fort Worth to come together and support local art museums and galleries. All FWADA member galleries are open from 2-9pm, this Saturday, September 11, 2010. At FWADA’s website, you can find out more information about each member (with links to their respective websites) and there is also a map with the location of each institution. This week, you can visit any of the member’s galleries where they will have a wonderful brochure with information on current exhibitions. Find out more information about the association and this weekend’s Fall Gallery Night at FWADA’s website: fwada.com. - Courtesy of Art This Week

Eric Stevens in POETSandARTIST

Congratulations to Eric Stevens who was recently featured interviewed for POETS and ARTISTS magazine. Follow the link to read the article online.

"How I paint is just as important to me as what I paint. A formula must be decided upon for the subject at hand. You can see the shifting of formulae between the different subjects I paint: I paint landscapes very differently then florals, for example. Sometimes inspiration for the formula I will use come from a piece of artwork, something that has nothing to do with what I intend to do, and usually it's not a painting."
