This exhibition marks Gallery 76102’s inaugural juried competition, featuring 25 artists who live and/or work in Tarrant County. The title refers to the U.S. Census Bureau’s calculation that Tarrant County has a total area of 897 square miles (2,324 km²), of which 863 square miles (2,236 km²) is land and 34 square miles (88 km²) (3.80%) is water..
25 artists were selected by juror Charles Wylie. Artists included in the exhibition are Marianna Alfaro, Jesse Barnett, Angel Cabrales, C.J. Davis, Caleb Dulock, Joshua Elliott, Bryan Florentin, Jessica Fuentes, Jeffrey Gibbons, Corey Gossett, Jennifer Guest, Matthew Heller, Amy Herzel, Hannah Hudson, Leslie Lanzotti, Paul Leicht, Michael Mazurek, Mary Morgan, Chuck Pratt, Jo Rutledge, Helen Schenck, Amy Schultz, Alan Siggers, Catherine Snow, and Eric Villarreal.
About the Juror
Charles Wylie is the Dallas Museum of Art's Lupe Murchison Curator of Contemporary Art, and has been at the DMA for fifteen years. Wylie is currently working on the DMA’s presentation of the important touring exhibition Mark Bradford retrospective, organized by the Wexner Center, to open at the DMA in October, and has recently curated the exhibitions Tierra y Gente, Modern Mexican Works on Paper and Performance/Art, that featured the work of Eija-Liisa Ahtila, David Altmejd, Frances Bagley and Tom Orr, Guillermo Kuitca and Yinka Shonibare.
